Change.

Transition.

Releasing the old.

All these things are very uncomfortable for most. We like our routines, schedules, and familiar things. Getting us outside of what we consider normal is often a major cause of stress, so what happens when it takes place in the church? How do we handle it?

Recently, our church has begun a few major leadership changes. With Pastor Jeremy planting a new church in Minnesota, a need for leaders arose to fill in the gaps left by him. Thankfully God provided people with amazing hearts to step up. They are answering the call to help lead a growing church and I can’t be more excited to help them in their growth.

However, this also means that there will be some growing pains. Mainly for two reasons: 1)our church is experiencing a growth pattern right now which causes stress to systems and leaders, and 2) our new leaders have to learn their new positions without the benefit of having time to “perfect” it. Sunday comes every week, which doesn’t leave a lot of time to train, even though training began way before Pastor Jeremy left. They are working out the kinks in music, media, video production, administration, and dealing with a pastor like me who is only trying to be the BEST CHURCH IN PANAMA CITY BEACH!!! All while God is growing our church with new families coming every week for months. This is all a great thing, but we need you!

So how can you help? Let me give you a few things you can do to make this transition happen smoothly.

  1. Give Grace. Things are going to be different and sometimes not done the same way they have been. Some changes will work, and others will not and be discarded. Be patient with things.
  2. Encourage your leaders. Almost every staff member is a VOLUNTEER. They work full time jobs, then work a ton of hours to make BPC great. Their toughest critics are themselves and hearing a few words of encouragement goes a long way. I work with them, and I know how hard they are on themselves. Lift them up.
  3. Step Up. In addition to having two services on Easter, the growth we are seeing requires new service team members. If you have a skill, or if you are willing to learn, sign up to help. You might just be the one person that helps everything! Email us at info@baypointechurch.tv to get plugged in.
  4. Pray. Pray. Pray. Leaders of churches live with a different kind of stress. Yes, everyone faces stress, but when you are dealing with people’s eternity, the stress goes up a few levels. Pray for the leaders of your church. Go to God on behalf of them, their family, and all they are trying to accomplish.

I know things are not perfect right now. I get it. However, I also know that being perfect isn’t what its all about. It’s about giving God our everything, our best, our hearts and then letting Him do the rest. He has huge things in store for our church and I know as we stick together, lift each other up, and stay obedient to Him, we will become the BEST CHURCH IN PANAMA CITY BEACH!

Find life…live grace…become hope.
